Flat Stanley Rubric
Reflection:
The most important criteria for this project is the letter writing format. In my lesson, I had the students complete a checklist. I am also using this checklist as an assessment for the project. The checklist is 10 points if all items are complete. In this project, I wanted students to learn and share information from people eslewhere. Communication will be an important knowledge that the students will gain. There are many different ways to communicate to people abroad, and letters are just one of them.

ED480 Teachback
The Use of Technology in the K-8 Curriculum
View it in slideshare!
www.slideshare.net/carlynn
Reflections:
The most I learned from completing this assignment is using slideshare and powerpoint together. This is so neat. Middle school students can actually use this tool for presentations, aside from webquests and weblog. I really like it, an online assignment!
If I were to use this software again, I would use it to tie student online presentations with it.
The ED Tech Topic I did the assigment taught me how to use different technologies for instructions and assessment. It is something that we learn in the class and I just tied it with my topic. It is about science and ways of approaching instruction with technology in the curriculum. Most things we are learning in class:).

ed480 crossword assignment
1. I really liked the idea of using excel to create the crossword. I usually just go online and search for puzzle makers. It is easy and convenient to use, but what I liked about this activity is that you can teach the students to do this on their own. I think it will be helpful for those students who do not have access to the internet. The microsoft website really helped me a alot.
2. I think it is important to keep parents informed about what is going on in the classroom, so that they can help their children with their assignments. It also helps parents be aware of the lessons that is being taught or will be taught. Communication is important between parents and teachers in order for the child to be successful.
3. I think it will really help the child learn the excel program and language. I think it will also make them realize that people have different ways in creating their crossword puzzles. I did my questions in a fill in the blank format. Others may be different and just follow the regular crossword formats you see on newspapers.
4. For one thing, I should keep inmind to verify my work before submitting it to my weblog. I didnt realize the answers were right next to the questions. And because I made that error, I should also keep in mind to remind my students to do the same.

Online Grading
http://www.engrade.com
The online gradebook in this website is easy to use and easy to manage. As a teacher, this is one tool that would really make grading easier. It makes grading sooooo easy. Just add the information you want and click! You're done. Teachers have a lot of papers to grade and the software even calculates the grades and the weights of your tests, quizzes, assignments at the push of a button. You can also track behavior and add notes to calendars. Parents and students will also like this software, because they can access their grades online. It helps students and parents track their progress in their class.

Proprietary software vs. Open Source software
Proprietary software is a term used to describe software in which the user does not control what it does or cannot study or edit the code, in contrast to free software.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proprietary_software
Open source software allows for anyone with programming experience to revise and change the programming code to suit their individual needs. It allows to fully customize your settings. Many of today's popular software programs once started as an open source software program.

Webquest Project
For this webquest project we focused on the planets in our solar system. We weren't familiar with using a webquest as a tool for student learning, so we decided to choose a topic that would be easy to approach in this experience.
The learning outcomes of this topic are 1) using technology/internet to find information on topics, 2) learn important information about planets and its place in our solar system.
The most important lesson was using technology to do this project for student learning. I believe the software is a very useful tool in learning. The next time I prepare a project for my students using webquest, I will have them look for the websites themselves. I think it will teach them how to locate the information they need in order to do their lesson/activity.
I would also like to add that the project is collaborative lesson.
